“ I've had my eye on this place for years. My boyfriend and I moved across the street from it over a year ago, and we just recently tried it last month. This place is overlooked, probably by many, just like it was by me. I always thought it was some mediocre sushi place where you'll find your typical Americanized rolls. I was SO WRONG. I've lived in the city for about 8 years now, and I am not lying when I tell you that this restaurant is top 3 on my list for sushi spots. The fish here is actually really high quality and tastes absolutely delicious (it's imported from Spain so makes sense). It tastes so fresh, which is hard to come by in the city. If the food wasn't enough for how amazing this place is, the staff and service is top tier. The quality of food and the service there will have you thinking you're getting Michelin star quality. Talk to your server about the things you like/dislike and they will point you in the right direction of what to get, and will even make accomodations with their special rolls based on what you like. ”
“ We went here for restaurant week and it was definitely worth it. This was by far our favorite meal we’ve had this month. All the fish was so fresh, and the flavors from the sauces all worked so well with each other. The mochi ice cream and the cocktails were also great. The service was top notch. We’ll definitely be back again. ”
“ Tanoshii Sushi in West Loop Chicago is a hidden gem! The ambiance is cozy, the service is impeccable, and the sushi is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend trying their specialty rolls—they're unique and bursting with flavor. Definitely a must-visit for sushi lovers in the area! ”
“ Always amazing service. Always amazing food. 5star everything. I can’t sing the staffs praises enough. They are wonderful to my wife and I every visit. The aged whisky is also fantastic. This is hands down the best sushi spot in Chicago. ”
“ Tanoshii Sushi in West Loop is easily one of my favorite sushi spots in Chicago! If you’re craving high-quality, fresh, and creative sushi, this is the place to be. The Chef’s Special is what makes Tanoshii extra special—you never know exactly what you’re getting, but it’s always amazing. You just tell the chef what you like (and don’t like), and they work their magic. Every time, it’s something fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. We also tried the Greentea Apple Mocktail, but honestly, I wasn’t a fan—the flavors just didn’t mix the way I hoped. That said, their happy hour is solid, so there are plenty of other drinks and bites to enjoy at a great price. Pro tip: Make a reservation! This place fills up fast, especially during peak hours, so don’t risk the wait. The service is always great, and the cozy, welcoming vibe makes it perfect for a fun night out. ”
“ I love this place, hidden gem. Service is fantastic. Tons of vegetarian options, second time here and I’ll be back plenty more. I guarantee this will not disappoint get the special rolls or omakase. ”
“ Went for Restaurant Week and added the Maki Special - loved it! Great vibe, delicious food, and friendly staff ”
“ How am I just finding this place? This is genuinely amazing sushi, attentive service, and a nice space. The carrot, ginger salad, the miso soup, and all of the special rolls were absolutely spectacular. Legitimately one of the best sushi meals I’ve had in memory. ”
